Credential Verification
Every technician profile on TradeHire is validated against official Maine state licensing records — automatically, at the source, not by trusting self-reported data.
Why It Matters
On generic job boards, a candidate writes "Licensed Master Electrician" in their profile. That is a claim. There is no validation. The employer either takes it on faith or manually calls the state board.
TradeHire eliminates that gap. Every technician profile you see on our platform has been validated against the same official state database that building inspectors and licensing authorities use.
This is not just a better experience. For employers hiring for work that requires licensed personnel, it is a meaningful risk reduction.
When a technician creates their TradeHire profile, they enter their state-issued license number, trade, and (when available) a photo or document of the license.
A TradeHire reviewer checks the license number, trade, and documents against what the technician entered. This is a human review — we do not run an automated query against the Maine OPLR database from this page.
Government-ID verification runs through Didit when the technician starts that flow. A declined or abandoned ID check does not mark the license verified.
If the reviewer approves the license, the profile receives a Verified badge. License type and status become visible to employers. Name and contact details stay hidden until the technician chooses to reveal them.
We do not periodically re-query state records. If a license expires, is suspended, or a report comes in, a reviewer updates the status. Employers should still confirm credentials with the Maine OPLR for a final hiring decision.

State databases can take days to weeks to reflect new or renewed licenses. If your verification fails but your license is current, contact our support team. We can manually review your license documentation while the database updates.
Our verification is a strong, automated signal drawn directly from state records — the same source an employer would check manually. For final hiring decisions, especially for roles with significant legal exposure, we recommend employers also verify directly with the Maine OPLR.
Our system monitors license status and updates your verified badge automatically when license status changes. You will receive a notification if your verification status changes, and employers will see the updated status.
TradeHire currently verifies licenses issued by the state of Maine. We are building out verification infrastructure for additional states and will announce expanded coverage as it becomes available.
